Paralympian Ade Adepitan: Your mental health is just as important as your physical health

TV presenter and Paralympian Ade Adepitan MBE is one of a number of stars supporting the BBC Moodboosters initiative and says he would have liked to have had access to the resources during his own primary school days.

He said: “I wish there was something like this around when I was growing up because emotions… can be so confusing to understand, and this gives you a map and the knowledge to know what’s going on inside as well as outside.”

Ade, who has competed as a wheelchair basketball player at international level, continued:

“With life it’s all about knowledge and understanding and the more we get to grips with who we are and how we feel, the easier it is to cope with what life throws at us.”

The Moodboosters website provides primary school teachers and parents with short, simple and fun videos to support the PSHE curriculum for 5-11 year-olds.

Ade explained why he was so keen to be a part of it: “I think this is such an awesome campaign… it’s kind of all about mental health and I think your mental health is just as important as your physical health.”
