Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden: Dancing has a positive impact on my mental wellbeing

Strictly professional Amy Dowden wowed viewers of the popular series once again after partnering with EastEnders’ actor James Bye in the 2022 series.

The Welsh dancer says that her dancefloor routines have a great effect on her mental health:

“Dancing has such a positive impact on my mental wellbeing. It makes me feel like I’m able to express myself. Moving around just makes me feel happy, upbeat, energised. It’s made me who I am.”

Amy is among the famous faces taking part in the new Moodboosters initiative, which provides primary school teachers and parents with short, simple and fun videos to support the PSHE curriculum for 5-11 year-olds.

She said she was really excited about taking part in the videos, adding: “Moodboosters can benefit children so much. Help them gain confidence, find themselves, express themselves, try new challenges… it’s such an easy way to interact and gain confidence in yourself. Do it. Challenge yourself.”
