British R&B singer Omar explains how singing and listening to music helps him feel "happy and relaxed".
"It makes me feel able to carry on with the day," the singer and body percussionist, who has worked with Stevie Wonder and Erykah Badu, said.
Omar has recently recorded his own versions of Bring the Noise songs, which he wanted to put his "own little spin on". The track Summertime, is featured in this video clip.
He says he uses music throughout the day to fit in with his mood, "Sometimes if I feel quite tired I might pop on a certain song and get my energy going," he said.
"Then when I want to just calm down and unwind at the end of the day it takes another kind of song to change my mood."

It was fun, um, singing the Bring The Noise songs today because uh, when I first heard them I was, I really liked them as well. So I was quite eager to put my own little spin on them. Uh, and it was, just been fun all day.

Omar:
Music makes me feel that I can express myself any way that I want. Makes me feel happy. Makes me feel relaxed. Uh, makes me able to carry on with the day. You know, sometimes if I feel quite tired I might put on a certain songs that get my energy going. Sometimes when I wanna just calm down and just like, you know, unwind at the end of the day, it takes another kind ofsong to, to, to change my mood there as well. So, it's very useful, very useful.

Omar:
I think kids should be encouraged to take part in music because it's a way of expressing themselves and I find it's a very good way to, to release any, uh, you know, feelings that I have. Um, to express myself with joy, with laughter, with sadness. Whatever way it is, it's always a good outlet.
