Life on Mars by Zuren Z.
"Wow", exclaimed Stew and Pidd together, as they gazed up at the TV in awe. They were crouched in the bushes behind some excited human scientists. In the centre of the screen was, a reddish-orange sphere. The planet Mars.
Stew began jumping in giddy excitement. "Do you know what this means, Pidd?" he wheezed, pointing his paw at the screen. "Look at that orange colour! This planet must be full of carrots!"
Pidd's stomach rumbled in agreement. "Yes! We must get there before the humans eat all our carrots! Just look at them, with their dreamy eyes."
Just then Stew spotted a peculiar white vehicle with strange antenna and panels behind a fence, and they heard the scientists saying it was called Mars Rover with destination planet Mars.
"Come on! Let's go to the carrot world!", said Stew, "follow me." Before any humans noticed, both rabbits sneakily dashed under the fence and hid themselves in the boot of the Rover. The Rover soon began to move. From a little window in the Rover, Stew and Pidd could see that they were driving across a big empty road towards a huge white tower, with a thick bottom and a narrow tip. "What is that?" Pidd whispered in curiosity.
"I don't know?" Stew whispered back. "But it looks like it can fly very far, very fast."
Soon, the Mars Rover, along with our two furry friends, were being loaded into the cargo bay of the white tower. When Pidd looked down, he could see humans frantically scuttling below like ants, making sure everything was ready.
Once the Rover was safely inside, a loud voice began to boom. "Prepare for launch countdown.''
"5, 4, 3, 2, 1!"
Both rabbits held their breath… BOOM!
And they were away! Stew and Pidd held on as the rocket began to go swiftly into space.
After what seemed like a lifetime, the rocket began to slow down and gradually landed with a huge thud onto the Mars ground. Stew and Pidd, now awfully hungry, couldn't stop thinking about all the carrots they were going to find. So sweet and so tasty.
They hurried to the door as it slid open, revealing a barren crimson landscape. The air was colder than ice, and both rabbits were suddenly finding it hard to breathe. "Where are the carrots?" Pidd was puzzled. "Treasures are always buried, remember? We needed to dig the carrots out!" Stew reminded him impatiently. "Oh, of course!" replied Pidd with a relief. "Onwards!" they cried weakly, as they trudged into the unknown…
Sometime later, there was an astonishing discovery from Mars Rover. Scientists held their breathes in shock, as it appeared in this deserted land, a pair of frozen bones! There were skulls and leg bones, looked just like a normal animal on earth!
"You see!" shouted the scientist excitedly to the crowd. "Intelligent life on Mars!"
