Peach's Magical Maths Workout by Peyton K.
Peach was a little girl who had an inspired imagination. She was always happy and excited thinking of stories and games that she could play. Her brother and sister made fun of her imagination, but they didn't know she had special powers. Peach had a secret. Her orange sparkly hair scrunchie was magic. When she tied her long brown hair up in the scrunchie something special happened. It was like time stopped still. Sparkles were everywhere and a music played that only Peach could hear. She knew she couldn't tell anyone about her secret because they would not believe her.
One day when Peach was doing her homework she pulled out the scrunchie from her drawers and wrapped it around her swishing ponytail. She was finding her sums and times tables hard and hoped her magic secret would help her to work it out. Straight away she noticed the twinkling magic fill her bedroom. Suddenly the numbers on her page came to life and were dancing and running around her room. 1s, 2s, 3s and more were doing a gymnastics routine with the plus and times and takeaway signs. The equals sign was shaking about trying to get everyone in line. Peach found it even harder to work out the sums when they were dancing around her room.
More and more numbers and symbols were jumping off the page. Peach thought she found maths hard before but this was impossible. Her magic was supposed to help not make things harder. Peach pulled the scrunchie tighter hoping that would help. Next thing she knew the numbers were talking to her. "We needed some space to work out we were too squashed on the page" said a number 7 stretching across her bed. "We heard you say you needed help with working out so we are here to do a workout" said a number 11 who was running on the spot.
"I didn't mean that kind of workout" said Peach who was shocked at the talking numbers. "I meant I needed help working out the answers to my sums and times tables not doing exercise" she said.
Suddenly everyone stopped. They all looked at each other and then at Peach. They knew just how to help. "We know how to do maths so let us help you" said number 1. They all gathered around Peach and explained every sum and problem to her. It all made sense.
"Wow" said Peach. "I did not know that, thank you numbers and symbols."
Each number took a bow and climbed back into her book. As the last number made it back onto the page Peach heard her brother and sister coming up the stairs. She quickly took out her scrunchie and covered it up in her drawer. This was one secret she was going to keep to herself. Besides they wouldn't believe her anyway if she did tell them.
