The Day a Seagull Stole My Granny by Clemmie I.

My Granny always took me on great adventures in her campervan. She won it in a competition. My Granny entered every competition that she found on the internet. She has tried to win a bottle opener, life drawing class tickets, a packet of good quality naan (she's allergic to bread) and a childrens cookbook (she's 67).We've been on a lot of wonderful adventures in her van. My favourite trip was when we went to the firth of forth because the RNLI got called out to rescue a man using my favourite lifeboat, the Atlantic 85.On this weird but wonderful day, my Granny, sister and I went to a pebbly beach to do some crabbing. In case you are wondering crabbing involves trying to catch a crab using a net and crab food. I have used sweetcorn, ham and prawn cocktail crisps before (they didn't really like the crisps!).We drove to the beach in Grannys campervan. I went first and I caught a humongous crab. He had a blue bottom and a toothy smile so I called him Gerald the magnificent.Next it was Granny's turn so she threw the net in and caught nothing. Next go she caught a teensy wheensy oyster. On her last go she caught a giant crab even bigger than Gerald. The crab was so big a seagull spotted it and swooped down to grab the crab. My Granny didn't see the seagull coming and was still holding on tightly to the net as the seagull gripped the net in its beak and flew off with my Granny.I shouted to her saying "Granny let go!" and "Granny STOP!". She disappeared into the sky screaming loudly and using her sternest voice, that she saves for the naughtiest of naughty people, she told the seagull "PUT ME DOWN NOW". It didn't work because the seagull didn't speak Granny language and they flew off out to the North Sea. They carried on flying for a long time and my Granny got more and more petrified and a lot colder.Suddenly she saw an Oil rig in the distance with a man on it waving at her. When she got closer she realised it was my Daddy who was waving. He said "Isn't it a lovely day?" then said "What on Earth are you doing with that seagull and crab?". My Granny said "It's a long story, can I tell you over supper?" and let go of the net, dropping on to the Oil rig.She had a lovely dinner with Daddy, which was delicious giant stuffed Yorkshire puddings. Daddy managed to hitch a ride for Granny on the next helicopter back to shore. The helicopter ride was brilliant because Granny saw a basking shark and a few dolphins. Granny sweet talked the pilot into flying to where I was waiting with my sister. Granny used the ladder to climb down and gave us a colossal bosie.I don't think we will be going crabbing again.

Blue line.
