The Pirate Who Lost His ‘Arrrr’ by Phoebe S.
Once upon a time there was a fierce but friendly Pirate called Pete. He travelled around the world and across the seas on a big tall towering ship. Pete was a very famous pirate and was known by all the other pirates because he had the loudest, biggest, most mighty Arrrr that anyone had ever heard!
One day Pete the Pirate was showing off his Arrrr when he noticed that his Arrrr wasn't as loud as normal. He noticed that his Arrr sounded a bit squeaky and then disappeared completely. He got worried, he started to panic, he loved his Arrrr and how loud and special it was and how he was able to show it off to all the other pirates, he was very scared about his Arrr. What kind of pirate would he be without an Arrr!
He sat down for a while trying to find his Arrr but it was no good, he did not know what to do or how to get it back so first he went to see the captain of the ship who was not helpful at all, he roared and laughed and told him he couldn't be a real pirate without an Arrr.
Next he went to find the cook, hoping that a special hot soup would help his Arrr come back. Cook agreed and started making him a soup full of some strange ingredients, there were: onions, sprouts, lettuce, leeks, lemons and limes, some cauliflower, fish bones and a sprinkle of seaweed. "Drink that" cook said "That will bring your Arrr back". But it was no good even after a big bowl of soup it didn't work. He still didn't have his famous Arrrr. He became even more worried.
Polly the parrot even tried to help by cheering him up but it was no good. He couldn't be without his Arrr, he was very sad he would have to leave the ship and stop being a pirate.
The next morning Polly the parrot was squawking and flapping her brightly coloured wings, "follow me, follow me" she screeched. Pirate Pete followed Polly the parrot below deck into the captains cabin and there he saw the captains secret treasure chest and inside, it was full to the top of shiny gold chocolate coins. There were so many. He picked one up and peeled off the wrapper and then took a big bite and it was the best thing he had ever eaten in his life. He was so happy he wanted to eat them all.
Suddenly he felt a funny feeling and he tried his Arrr, it was back and even louder than before. He was so happy to have his famous Arrrr back.
Polly was squawking and Pete was Arrring loudly for everyone to hear. The pirates on the ship gathered round and cheered.
So now you know if you ever happen to loose your Arrr and want it to come back then you need to eat lots of yummy chocolate coins!!
