Tea for Three by Lois V.
'Maud, love, pass the tea would you?'Maud reached over to the teapot.'Here y'are. So, Sheila, lovey, how's your daughter?''Ahh, alright, y'know. She had a little girl in June. Gracie, her name,''Awhh, Gracie. Nice name, that.''Yeah, it is, isn't it? I helped April choose it. She were dead set on calling her Rose, but I knew about 12 Roses when i worked at that primary school,''Yeah, quite common now I bet. Still nice though. I was friends with a Rose, back in, ooh, must be 50 years ago now,''I haven't seen Mr Miller at 47 recently, have you?''You know what Maud, you're the second person this week to say that.''Really? Well I never did.''Yeah, I did see him last week. Did look a bit peaky though. Lost some weight.''Ooh, wonder what happened to 'im. Maybe he's gone on a diet.''Maybe. I waved at him and he didn't wave back. Perhaps he's just loosin' his marbles. I mean, you never know, at our age, do you?''I suppose not. I mean, I were plantin' some pansies yesterday and I've completely forgotten where I put them.''Ooh, yeah, pansy season now isn't it?''Yeah, yeah. Y'know, Sheila, I think autumn's my favourite season.''Oh really?''Yeah, I do. It's just the leaves, and all. I get to pick my apples in the autumn too.''Yeah, I suppose so. 'Tis nice weather in the autumn too. Not too cold, but not too hot.'There's a knock at the door.'Ooh, wonder who it is. I'll get it, Sheila, love.''Oh, alright. I'll put the kettle on. I don't think we've got enough tea left for three.'sheila moves into the kitchen. Maud answers the door.'Ooh, Sheila?''Yeah love?''It's Mr Miller!''Ooh! Y'alright, Mr Miller?'Mr Miller grunts. Sheila continues to make the tea. Maud comes into the kitchen.'He's got a blank look on his face.''Oh.''I'll go sit in the living room with him.''Alright love.'After a few minutes, Sheila makes her way into the living room with the tea.'Maud, do you have sugar in your tea? Do you Mr Miller?'Mr Miller insists no.Sheila enters the living room.'Hello, Mr Miller, y'alright?''Yes.''Where'd Maud go love? Maud!'Mr Miller's eyes glaze over. Sheila backs away. Mr Miller opens his mouth.'I'm right here, lovey!'Mr Miller says this in Mauds voice. His face widens into a smile, an abnormally large one. He licks his fingers, one by one, and his mouth rips open to reveal rows upon rows of dagger-sharp teeth. Sheila retreats and backs into the counter-top.'So, love, about that tea?' Mr Miller says in Maud's voice, his ripped open smile enlarging. Sheila tried to scream, but her throat was dry and sore. She couldn't. She dropped the tea tray. The brew mixed with the thick, red, substance which puddled the floor also.Mr Miller drank the entire pot of tea.
