Detective Weasel and the Stolen Sandwich by Robyn T.
One day the town of Kibbleton came together to break the World Record for The World's Tastiest Sandwich.
The animals gathered around to decide what should go in the sandwich, making sure that there was something tasty for everyone.
There were carrots for the bunnies, lettuce for the tortoises, cheese for the mice, peanut butter for the squirrels, jam for the dogs, tuna for the cats and slices of bread for the birds.
Mr Fox would be arriving in the morning to judge the spectacular sandwich. The animals agreed to go to bed and get a good night's sleep.
The next morning, crowds started to gather at the town hall. Mr Fox arrived and slowly pulled back the curtain to reveal…nothing but a pile of crumbs. There were gasps from the crowd. There wouldn't be a World Record without a scrumptious sandwich.
It doesn't take long for Mr Fox to decide what to do. "We need Detective Weasel".
Detective Weasel arrived to inspect the scene.
Detective Weasel revealed her findings:Tiny crumbs leading out of the hallA single black hairA scratch by the door handle
Detective Weasel interviewed the local animals one by one and said "There's only one thing for it, we need to set a trap".
The animals worked hard to create another splendid sandwich. As the birds were about to lay the final piece of bread on top of the sandwich, Detective Weasel shouted "Stop! I have one final ingredient to add that should help us find the sandwich thief".
The next day, the sandwich had gone. But this time, there was a single paw print next to the plate, made in hot sauce that was added to the sandwich. Detective Weasel said "I think we have our thief".
Detective Weasel arrived at a house on the edge of Kibbleton. The door opened to reveal Mole Rat, shaking, a blanket wrapped around him, looking very poorly. The hot sauce had made Mole Rat's tummy very fizzy and rumbly. Mole Rat explained that had felt very left out when the other animals had been making the sandwich. All the animals had their own ingredients, except him. Detective Weasel said "I think I have an idea".
Mole Rat and Detective Weasel worked through the night to create another sandwich, adding all the ingredients the animals had chosen.
As the birds went to place the final piece of bread on the sandwich Detective Weasel shouted "Stop! I have one more ingredient to add". Mr Fox said "I don't think we need any more hot sauce!" Detective Weasel smiled as he placed some sliced pickles on top of the sandwich, just for the Mole Rat. The animals cheered and Mole Rat clapped with joy.
Now Kibbleton finally had their stupendous sandwich it was finally time for it to be judged.
That night, the town had the biggest party ever to celebrate breaking the World Record for the World's Tastiest Sandwich - and to celebrate making a new friend.
