Seasons of Love or: A Cup of Tea Solves Everything by Ottilie L.

The Seasons all live together in a house, and they have a nice time together but they keep arguing about the heating and the air conditioning… and Winter.

It was March and it was Spring's turn to control the weather - to grow the flowers and hatch the eggs - but in England, Winter never wanted to give the other seasons a turn.

"There are 525,600 minutes in a year, and Winter always tries to steal them all!" said Spring angrily. Spring was a grassy ball covered in colourful flowers and pink fluffy blossoms. She walked bouncily, with a spring in her step. "I want to make it nice and sunny so that the flowers can bloom and the children can play in the playground!"

"I never get my full turn, either" said Autumn, droopily. Autumn was a reddy, orangey, browny, yellowy ball covered in leaves. "Autumn always ends too early. I try to make it just windy and a teeny bit dribbly, but Winter comes and makes it freezing!"

Summer, who was a big sunny ball wearing sunglasses, walked in. Summer was very, very happy and didn't usually argue with Winter, because it was rarely cold and snowy in summer. In fact, Summer usually argued with Autumn. Autumn thought Summer was really lazy - he was supposed to take care of August, but in England he often gave up early and went on holiday to the beach, and Autumn had to do his job for him.

Spring decided the seasons should share out the minutes evenly. "What's 525,600 divided by 4?", Spring asked Winter.

"Do I look like a calculator?" replied Winter.

Winter did look a bit like a calculator because he was square. But he was much bigger than a calculator, and instead of buttons he was covered in snowflakes and ice cubes.

"Let's all stop arguing and pop the kettle on! A cup of tea solves everything." said Autumn.

Spring gasped! "That's it! A cup of tea solves everything!"

Spring hurried off to the kitchen, put water in the kettle and boiled it. Then, she grabbed a glass from the cupboard and chose a camomile teabag. She poured the boiling hot water into the glass.

Autumn was very worried and shouted "What are you doing? Why are you pouring hot water into a glass? You need a mug! Glasses are for iced tea!".

"Exactly" said Spring.

Spring grabbed a handful of small square blue see-through building blocks from the toy box, and put them into the glass of hot tea. They floated to the top, and looked like ice cubes.

Spring gave the glass of hot, ice-cubey tea to Winter. "Here's a nice cup of iced tea!" she said. Winter loved cold drinks, so he gulped down the whole glass. But OH NO! He began to get hot! His snowflakes and ice cubes melted into a big puddle. Winter had fallen for Spring's trick! Now that he was melting, he couldn't keep the weather cold and Spring finally arrived!

Blue line.
