Here is our pick of the week in Tayside and Central Scotland: Homecoming Scotland 2009 draws to a close with events across the country celebrating St Andrews Day and the finale of Homecoming Year in Scotland. Historic Scotland for free28 - 29 November Across Scotland The good people at Historic Scotland have waived their normal admission charges to Historic Scotland properties for the weekend. Gain free entry to Historic Scotland sites and buildings including Stirling Castle, Arbroath Abbey and Dunblane Cathedral. A special 'text for nearest' service has been set up by Historic Scotland. Text 'WEEKEND' to 84118, and you can find information on your closest free attraction and its opening times. 26 – 29 November Across Stirling Highlights for the finale of Homecoming Scotland in Stirling include a unique fashion show, a gig and exhibition that will showcase the exceptional collaboration between Scottish fashion designer Iona Crawford and Japanese fine artist Yukako Sakakura. 28 November Alloa Town Centre Enjoy outdoor activities including dance, music, re-enactment demonstrations and join in a record-breaking attempt at the largest community Virginia Reel. The day's festivities end with a St Andrew's night ceilidh held in Alloa town hall. 27 - 30 November Blairgowrie Events from Blairgowrie for St Andrew's Day include a traditional folk music festival taking place in venues across the town centre, ceilidhs, a march by massed pipe bands finishing with a display in the Wellmeadow, children's storytelling events and a Christmas Market. 27 November Dundee The evening of discovery will illuminate the city. Enjoy a visual feast set to mix stunning audiovisual displays and music against a backdrop of street art, performances and storytelling, ending with a fireworks display. 28 – 29 November The Gaiety Function Rooms, Dundee Enjoy the very best in traditional and modern music influenced by Celtic roots. Featuring artists such as Skilda (from Brittany), Dapper McDans and Booglausa.
