Mark Murphy's Breakfast Show was nominated for its coverage of the Suffolk Murders in December 2006. The story of the murders of five women working as prostitutes in Ipswich's red-light district made it onto the international news agenda with camera crews and satellite trucks descending on Suffolk from as far afield as Japan. Mark Murphy's Breakfast Show was nominated for the News Broadcast Award. We were up against entries from BBC 5 Live's Breakfast and Weekend Business shows, BBC Radio 4's Today programme and Real Radio Yorkshire. The gold award went to 5 Live's Breakfast Show with Nicky Campbell at a ceremony at Grosvenor House in London on Monday 30 April. ![]() Mark Murphy with the breakfast show team BBC Radio Suffolk has a history of awards success. In 2003 we won the Sony Station Of The Year Award (for stations with a potential listenership of 300,000-1,000,000).
