Video NationYou are in: Suffolk > People > Video Nation > Buddhist Community ![]() Buddhist CommunityTim lives in the Buddhist household in east Ipswich which is tied to Ipswich Buddhist Centre on the Cornhill, but it's not all meditation and lentils! This film was originally part of the BBC's 30 Days: 30 Communities project.
Buddhism is still a fairly new religion in the UK, but communities within the wider community are growing. In Ipswich, there's a house for men who wish to live a more spiritual lifestyle although they all hold down 'normal' jobs as well. In this film, Tim talks about his outlook on modern life, why he became a buddhist, about recycling and his dayjob. He interviews people who volunteer at the Ipswich Buddhist Centre and the Evolution shop on the Cornhill. He also takes a trip to the outdoor Buddhafield festival in the West Country which is a much larger-scale version of the Buddhafield East event which takes place in the Suffolk countryside every summer. To watch the stream you will need RealPlayer.
