From this point you can see both the Stour and Orwell estuaries. In the distance are Harwich and Parkeston Quay.
The Stour and Orwell estuaries are internationally important for birdlife and are designated as a Special Protection Area. Since this is also a busy commercial shipping lane it requires sensitive management to protect and conserve the mudflats and saltmarshes.
