The Breakfast Show has presented two Rascal cheques… You may have seen the radio car in Basford a few weeks ago, as we went to visit some members of the North Staffs Kidney Patient Association. The North Staffs Kidney Patients Association was awarded a cheque for £7,000.
The group meet once a month at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire and use their funds for a variety of projects. Sometimes the simplest of things, such as getting to hospital, can be a real problem for patients, and that's just one way the charity can help.
Cancer charities often have much higher profiles than groups such as this, but kidney problems affect thousands of local people whose lives can be vastly improved by donations.
The message from members of the Association is that whilst dialysis and transplants offer kidney patients a much improved way of life, they still encounter lots of problems.
The second Breakfast Show Rascal Cheque went to the North Staffs Carers.
