The Grand Hall at Trentham Gardens in Staffordshire was once one of the best dance halls in the country.

Popular in the forties, fifties and sixties, people from near and far would spend their Saturday nights on the dance floor of the Grand Hall; in fact many people met the love of their life there.

Were you 'in the mood', why not flick through our photo gallery...

Sadly after years of neglect the Grand Hall closed to the public last year.

But just before the closure a local couple, Norman and Barbara Maddox, decided to take it upon themselves to hold a huge reunion at the Hall for local people who used to dance there.

Norman said, "I just could not let the Grand Hall close without a big bang."

The night was a huge success, so much so, that there was a demand to put on another reunion this year.

Of course because the Grand Hall is now closed, another venue had to host the event, and THE Kings Hall in Stoke, seemed to be the next best venue.

So at 8 pm on Saturday evening the Kings Hall came alive once more to the sound of the big band.

BBC Radio Stoke’s mid morning morning reporter Julia Morgan introduced the Robert Shirley Orchestra, who kept the partygoers "in the mood".

Many people dressed up in their service uniform and took to the dance floor to trip the light fantastic, till the band played the last waltz and the night came to a close.

A truly memorable night.
