little roundabout by the michelin
hi, i work at the sainsburys distribution center in stoke, and i have to go round the little roundabout by the michelin site so that i can get on the A50,
anyway i was going round it the other nite and i came up with a brilliant idea...the roundabout has little michelin men around it so woudnt it be brilliant if there were lit up or even had lights placed inside them ?
it would certainly brighten the roundabout up and make the area less dissmal ! what do you think ?

New Website for stoke culture
Hi all, first time ive posted on here but thought Id let you you all know about a new website I am building.
Its all about staffordshire culture where I will be adding gig listings, live reviews, photos, links etc. All I ask is that all you guys in bands out there, get in touch and give me as much info as you can. web addresses, emails, gig dates etc. its a site for everyone and is in its early stages at the moment.
Im not the greatest web builder in the world so im keeping it very basic for the time being until I know a bit more about what im doing. theres a guestbook, message forum, live chat room (java needed) and hopefully alot more in the near future. I would apreciate it if as many people get in touch so that the site can be a success and hopefully become a common place on the net for you all to use. get in touch at staffsknots@hotmail.com with any relevant info. you can visit the site in its early stages at FARSIDEOFTHEUNDERGROUND.BRAVEHOST.COM
Thanks for taking the time to read my message and look forward to hearing from folk soon.

Tribute to Dave Follows
Dave was a great cartoonist. We the publishers of the only monthly magazine in India, Cartoon Watch, pay homage to him. A cartoonist never die because his work is with us always.

TITANIC WORLD CLASS COLLECTION - Stoke
Went on Sunday and it is absolutely amazing to see so many items from Titanic. It was so well presented - and was so moving and emotional. Great value for money - we spent 2 hours in there for just £5 each - a great experience and one that we will never forget. Well worth the trip.

Artsnet & Artsview
Hi; I note you've recently added http://www.artsnet.org.uk and http://www.artsview.org.uk to the links list and placed them _above_ Staffordshire links -- yet Artsview seems very moribund, eg: front-page lead story is "Birmingham today received a massive boost in its bid to become European Capital of Culture 2008." , and so does Artsnet - eg: front page, "Master of Arts students from BIAD will be exhibiting their final projects during September 2003." and the heralding of an A&B seminar on 3rd December 2003.
May I suggest these two rather duff sites be at least moved down to the very bottom of the list?

oops!
I now realise that she wasn't a victim of Thalidomide - but I still stand by my point!

Thalidomide Victim
I don't see why the figure should not be put on display in London. These monuments are meant to be remembrance of things past. The Thalidomide crisis was an important part of our history, and one that should not be forgotten. The statue itself is not offensive, but a masterful work of art.
If the woman were not disabled, or not pregnant (one of the shameful curses of womanhood, surely?), I doubt that there would be any fuss. These people are a part of Britain, and deserve to be represented.

Reginald Mitchell
Maybe a statue of RJ Mitchell and his spitfire would be a better subject for the plinth in Trafalgar Square than those proposed.

disable staue in Trafalgar Sq
I agree with Brian sewell. What exactly is the point of this statue, and why is it to be in the centre of London? It's just politically correct, and has no value in being uplifting or in honouring some of our great figures. It wil be forgotten as soon as it is (hopefully) taken down

arts
You may be interseted to know that the Potteries Museum exhibition at the moment features paintigns and sketches by, er, Jack The Ripper!!
The museum has in its permaanet collection loads by Walter Sickert the English impressionist, and some are on show this month. It's very creepy because the latest work on the Ripper case points to - yes - Walter Sickert as the famous mass murderer...
Patricia Cornwall's book Portrait of A Killer (2002) pretty much closes the case- stating Sickert is definitely the ripper. Creepy huh?

UCI Tamworth - a review
Good solid multiplex cinema - perfect to drive to from just about anywhere but probably not so good for walkers, it's in the middle of a retail park and not particularly close to any residential areas. Clean, good facilities/cinema snacks, which aren't any more expensive (or healthy) than you would see anywhere else. Also near a couple of good restaurant/bars.

Stoke rich creative culture ?
MINTON By Ray Sheldon
In London road
The blossom trees
Have turned into a Sainsbury's

People crossed the world to see
The famous Minton factory
Mintin's factory is no more
It's just another Sainsbury's store

Those faceless men in there grey suits
Do they really give to hoots?
They gave away our history
To build another Sainsbury
