Good home found - at Malbank School - for a pair of "swans"
Janine, Swan & Kevin
Kevin and Janine Machin, from the local BBC, looked after the swans.... temporarily!
BBC Stoke have found new homes for two of the Alton Towers "swans"!

The fibre glass birds were destined for the scrapheap when the Towers decided to get rid of the ride in time for the new season... but a Nantwich school will save them.

The Swans Ride at Alton Towers, in which a family would sit together inside a Swan, and travel in sedate style, was a treat for parents and children.

Swan

For nearly twenty years, they sailed serenely around the Towers lake, carrying their precious cargoes.

But now the Swans have been pensioned off. From this season's start, they will be replaced on the lake by hi-tech aqua dodgems.

The good news is that the Towers asked the BBC to find an organisation which could use the two Swan "boats".

Swan around!
Each of the swan-boats is five metres long and two metres wide, and can sit around nine people on the benches inside. They're made of fibre-glass, and are in pristine condition.

They'd be ideal for a playground or as an attraction for an ornamental area.
The successful organisation must take the two Swans together. This is because, er, swans mate for life... (yeah, right??!)

A Nantwich home
Over the past few weeks BBC Radio Stoke's Breakfast Show presenters were doing their best to find them new homes and, after scores of entries by email, the panel of judges have decided they should go to the Malbank School in Nantwich.

The pupils and teachers have promised to give them a new home and the two swans are due to take pride of place in a new seating area soon.

BBC Radio Stoke's Breakfast Show will be coming live from the school once they're in place.

It'll be nice to see them swanning around again!
