Cannock Chase
Cannock Chase by Ruth Simmons

I was fortunate, as a child, to have Cannock Chase as my playground.

My brother and I would spend hours as jungle explorers making our way through this 'dangerous uncharted territory'
or secret agents having to find the tree with the mini-roll of film containing secret plans.

Although I don't have the same free time any more, I still find that, even after the most stressful events,
an early morning walk through Cannock Chase puts my world back on an even keel.

The photograph captures a moment very early one June morning when, just for a few minutes,
I was totally alone and standing in one of the most beautiful places in Great Britain.
