A team of nurses from Staffordshire are in training to walk a full 26 miles through London wearing sparkly bras to raise money for charity.

The group of eight who work for NHS Direct, based at Stafford General Hospital, are taking part in the 26 mile midnight walk in aid of breast cancer.

It's called the Midnight Moonwalk, and is scheduled to take place in Battersea Park - along with similar events around in the world - and will raise money for breast cancer research and breast cancer care.

The annual event, was founded by Nina Barough in 1996, after she walked the New York marathon wearing a bra.

Nicknamed the 'NHS Delights', the team have chosen to wear bras with an Eastern theme, because one of the nurses is a belly dancer in her spare time.

They hope to complete the walk in seven hours, and Liz Pearson, said they're already training hard to make sure they can do the full distance.

She said "We're doing power walking - and each week we have to increase the miles we're doing.

A couple of weeks before the Moonwalk, we've got to have the ability to do 34 miles, so it's a lot of training for stamina really.

And keeping our feet in good condition too!"
