The Golden Jubilee Service goes on public display in the Potteries Shopping Centre on the 22nd February 2003.

The specially designed dessert service has been produced by the British Ceramic industry to commemorate the Golden Jubilee, and will eventually be presented to The Queen as a gift from the ceramic industry and the people of Stoke-on-Trent.

The service was commissioned following a design challenge to meet the specific requirements of formal dining and entertaining in the Royal Household.

The co-operative efforts of a range of manufacturers and institutions were used within the British ceramic industry.

A leading group of manufacturers and suppliers worked together to take the initial dessert service design forward and bring the project to realisation.

Staffordshire University and the Hothouse, based in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, also contributed their specialised expertise and facilities to produce the dessert service.

During 2003, combinations of the Jubilee Dessert Service will be presented to major British Embassies and Consulates. In addition, the City of Stoke-on-Trent will also receive a presentation set.

Details of the official presentation to The Queen will be announced by the Lord Lieutenant during the official display opening ceremony at the Potteries Shopping Centre on 24th February 2003.

To see the Jubilee Dessert Service, visit the Potteries Shopping Centre from 22nd February until the 9th March 2003.
