| | Ceramica, the much delayed millennium project, has now officially opened its doors to the public and it offers an impressive range of activities for all to enjoy.
The central theme of Ceramica is aimed at recognising the heritage and importance that the pottery industry holds in Stoke-on-Trent.
 | | Where clay comes from | For kids, there's an interactive area where they can discover where clay comes from, how it's transformed into ceramics and how those products are used by people in everyday life.
Bizarreland opens in Ceramica An exhibition named 'Bizarreland' offers several interactive elements for visitors to enjoy.
The attraction was designed by Richard Fowler who created Eureka, the award winning children's activity centre in Halifax. 'Bizarreland' includes a flying carpet ride over the Potteries as well as a look at how to dig for evidence of the past with television's Time Team.
 | | Ceramica narrowboat | Visitors can also learn how boatmen had to 'leg' their narrowboats through canal tunnels. These attractions are firmly aimed at remembering the Potteries as they used be, and it's important that such a rich heritage shouldn't be forgotten.
The glass tower Upstairs at Ceramica, visitors can find The Pavilions, which are a celebration of the past, the present and the future of the local ceramic industry.
 | | Ceramica glass tower | There are a series of dramatic displays set around an eye-catching central glass tower where visitors can learn some of the secrets of how modern china is designed and produced.
Many of the famous names, including Royal Doulton, Moorcroft and Wade are represented in the display and the area also celebrates the life and work of Arnold Bennett, the locally born novelist who set many of his stories in the 'Five Towns' of the Potteries.
Worth a visit? Ceramica is perhaps the most important cultural addition to Stoke-on-Trent in recent times and, despite the delay, it's hoped the museum will help to keep the past alive for today's children.
