The witches of Pendle

Ghosthunters 2 -The Pendle Hill Vigil

Den Siegertsz returns to track down the mysterious witches of Pendle alongside his mystery machine posse

Pendle Hill

In Lancashire is one of the most foreboding sights you might ever see and is steeped in history, most of famous of these- the witches of Pendle.

Story of infamous witches of Pendle

The year is 1612 a time when misunderstood illness and unfortunate circumstances were blamed as the works of the devil. Pendle in Lancashire was one such place. It was reported around that time that some people died from a mysterious illness, milk was turned blue and cattle died without a mark on their body.

Someone was to blame...was it sorcery ?

Nine people hung for it....all labelled witches-however only a few actually were.

Hear the story of the witches of Pendle from historian Simon Entwistle below

At the church Den met medium Carolyn who explained what she can sense and more importantly what to expect as the night unfolded

The Vigil at the Pendle Hotel

The night began at the Pendle Hotel high on the hills where Den and his team of fearless ghost hunters visited the hotel's cellers. It was once the main road at Pendle but was buried when a new road was built over it. It is reported that there are sightings of ghostly horse and carraiges seen disappearing in the wall as well as other unpleasent ghostly shadows lingering in and amongst the kegs. During the vigil they experienced some strange shadows and a power drain which results in the audio going off air

The abandoned barn-Pendle Hill

Their final vigil was high up on Pendle Hill itself in an abandoned barn reportedly a place of multiple hauntings. It was here that a lot of activity was witnessed by the team including a strange screeching noise that was recorded, various lights and moving shadows

Was it a noise from the beyond....listen to their findings and judge for yourself !

* Many thanks to the team Haunted Happenings for the organisation of the vigil and the brave ghost hunters Den, Andrea, Pete & Julie
