Ghost-hunting at Tutbury Castle

During the summer solstice wekend, BBC radio presenter Den Siegertsz and friends went on a ghost hunting vigil at Tutbury Castle in East Staffordshire - meeting the 'Most Haunted' programme along the way

Who you gonna call ?

Probably not Den when it come to ghost hunting !
However on Friday 19th June, along with her indoors (his wife Andrea), and two friends for moral support (Pete & Julie), they spent a night ghost hunting at Tutbury Castle.

World's Longest Public Ghost Hunt

It was all part of a special event, the 'World's Longest Public Ghost Hunt' which is to raise money for charity; and a number of TV mediums including Johnnie Fiori (Living TV's 'Living with the Dead'), Barrie John ('Most Haunted') and the castle's curator, and history expert for TV's 'Most Haunted' programme, Lesley Smith also took part.

Most famous of all the spectres reportedly haunting the castle is Mary Queen of Scots.

She suffered much at Tutbury and was at the Castle as a captive of Elizabeth I on four occasions.

Another is a small girl named Ellie.
Said to be a child of seven years of age, but looking more like a five year old, Ellie is the most widely felt and experienced ghost at the Castle. She wears a white shift, has pale hair and is often laughing. She holds hands, pulls fingers, removes rings and causes electric pulses in your arm if she touches you.

Ghoulies

But there were a number of malevolent spirits that put in an appearance during Den's night long vigil.

I was at Tutbury for the 3 days and this was a great event. My highlight of the weekend was seeing who i thought was Lesley dressed up as Mary standing in the great hall window! Only to be told by another guest that Lesley was standing at the tea room door in her normal clothes and there was no one inside ^^
