He knows the nooks and crannies where the town's ghosts lurk too! Here he explains to us why he loves doing his Ghost Walks, which show the spooky side of Leek Recently Leek celebrated its 800th birthday - and the character of the town and its history makes it full of ghoulish byways and ghastly highways! Just some of the great ghostly stories of the “Queen of the Moorlands” include: There is even a pub in the town that was “ exorcised”, during a ceremony just thirty years ago. But there are famous people who passed this way too - including Bonnie Prince Charlie, Oscar Wilde, William Morris, JRR Tolkein - and an 1895 Ladies Football team who were pioneer Suffragettes! WalksI've been in love with Leek for many years and I'm glad to say served the townspeople in a public capacity - so, without boasting, I've yet to be stumped on a local question (encyclopaedic knowledge y' know, even extending to my appearances on Mastermind and University Challenge...). So no wonder I get such a kick out of doing the ghost walks. By the way, I would also like to hear from people who have other ghost stories about Leek! last updated: 24/12/2009 at 08:22 Have Your SayTHANKS FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS. THIS BOARD IS NOW CLOSED.
