Christmas

Carol singers

Nursing Noel

Churches, schools and community centres across Staffordshire and Cheshire are playing host to carol concerts as 25 December approaches. But would you expect one in a hospital?!

A North Staffordshire Hospital site has been the unlikely venue of a festive concert to be broadcast on BBC Radio Stoke on Christmas Eve. And it's all thanks to a chance meeting between a former heart patient and his surgeon!

The two decided to arrange a concert at the University Hospital's Medical School in Newcastle. An orchestra was formed for the occasion - made up of hospital staff with their friends and relatives - and the concert was hosted by BBC Radio Stoke's Lamont Howie.

But how did it go? You can hear the results by tuning to BBC Radio Stoke 94.6FM, 104.1FM and DAB on 24 December between 8.30 and 9.30am and between 2 and 3pm. Or you can listen here...
