School Day 'Politics Debate' at Endon High

School Day 'Political Debate'

If you think young people aren't interested, engaged or have opinions about the world - think again! Students from Endon High got to quiz local politicians as part of BBC Radio Stoke's School Day.

Year nine pupils from Endon High got a chance to tackle politicians from the main political parties, with the questions they thought were important.

Councillors Stephen Ellis (Conservative), Henry Jebb (Liberal Democrat) and Margaret Lovatt (Labour) from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council were given a grilling - with no previous knowledge of the questions.

The ‘School Day Politics Debate’ got off to a no nonsense start when the panel were asked if politicians always tell the truth! As you can hear for yourself, if they thought that was tough - the pressure continued. Subjects ranged from murderer’s prison sentences and tackling NHS debt through to the age of sexual consent.

At the end the politicians got a thirty seconds soapbox to canvas for votes before a straw poll to find out who had been the most persuasive. Take a listen to find out who was really down with the kids!
