School Day's Stuart George Show

School Day at BBC Radio Stoke saw the Stuart George Show gain three new members of staff! Laura became Stuart George's Co-Presenter, Paul was another Co-Presenter, and Megan was the Producer.

Our Online reporters, Joe and Josh, asked them about the experience...

Stuart George

Job swaps, they're quite a trendy thing to do these days... find out how someone in a different part of the business does their job. But when we got three students from Endon High School presenting and producing the show, I was a bit scared. I needn't have been. Paul and Laura as co-presenters where the best I've worked with in years (though the last co-host I had was Den Siegersz!) They were great, bags of enthusiasm, a wicked sense of humour and a couple of issues about seaside holidays on the North Wales coast (listen again to hear more).

Megan was a great producer too, always on top of all the things we were doing. It's been a great (and tiring) day.

Jodie Looker

Well today has certainly been an experience and a real insight into the issues young people are interested in.

Paul, Laura and Megan were all great and I thought they coped really well with the pressure of a live show.

We had a really lively three hours and explaining to someone the reasons why we do different stories and the way we do things has made me think carefully again about the show!

I'm absolutely shattered now - even more than usual, but have enjoyed every minute of it!

I wish I'd had the opportunity to get involved in local radio when I was their age and I hope it's given them a taste of what I think is the best job in the world….it's fun, exciting and different every day!

Megan - Stuart George Show Producer

I have had a fantastic day today at Radio Stoke! While being a producer I have learnt many skills and enjoyed every minute.

Although some things were quite confusing I got the hang of things and I am ready for a full time job! Photographers have being clicking their cameras all day and the TV crew were here too. My favourite part of the day was probably going into the studio and reading on air.

Laura - Stuart George Show Co-Presenter

I have had an absolutely amazing day today! I have really enjoyed myself. Producing was really fun, there is a lot more to producing than people think; I never actually realised how much work had to be done.

My favourite part was cake of the week! I thought the cakes were really nice (so they got a 9 out of 10 and a thumbs up from me!) I have learnt a lot about how to handle talking to members of the public on the phone, and also not to panic when I’m on air and not to get nervous. Overall it was great, thanks to everyone at Radio Stoke!

Paul - Stuart George Show Co-Presenter

I had loads of fun today but its been so busy, I'm shattered! My day involved lots of duties but cake of the week was definitely the best! I had a huge debate with a phone-in caller about whether Llandudno is over rated or not, thank you to the caller we had so much fun!

I learnt so much while I was pre-recording before the show which included finding out about the Muslim way of life and visiting the mosque situated in Shelton. Over all I had a great day and I would definitely love to come back to do it again!

Listen to the team in action...

What’s wrong with Llandudno? According to Paul and Laura, there’s plenty! After too many trips there, they’d both favour a more exotic holiday location, but callers to BBC Radio Stoke don’t agree!
