Find out what Laura McMullan, a video journalist for BBC Staffordshire TV, got up to... Laura McMullanMy day began at 7am, filming the first bulletins and sports bulletins, before heading to the studio to film the Breakfast show; Will going head to head with Janine Machin. Whilst Will seemed to settle in very well at our place, I popped over to his place, Endon High School to film the Moorlands Reporter Ros Chimes interrupting the school assembly. It was then back to Radio Stoke to film and unfortunately not sample the all important Radio Stoke cake of the week!.....Paul, Laura and Melissa seemed to enjoy their chocolate muffins on the Stuart George programme, cooked by Mrs Mayer from Endon High School. Her muffins got top marks. I finished filming at 12 o’clock, I then sat down to plan the structure of my edit, and the highlight the nice bits I wanted to include in the film. I wrote my script after looking at the footage I’d filmed, and then recorded my voice and began to edit. I sent the film down to our “hub” area in Birmingham at 5pm, and it was broadcast on BBC Staffordshire TV at 5:50pm, and published on broadband at the same time. My job usually involves filming in the morning and then editing in the afternoon. No day is every the same and I’m usually running round like a mad woman! This is what I love doing though – being responsible for the whole process of making a television piece. |
