Expats still get their Oatcakes!By Lisa Dawson People often miss their own bed, cups of tea and proper bread when they're abroad - but what about Oatcakes? Staffs people know it's a necessity - and they're buying it no matter where they are! Chris Bates owns a small cafe in Burslem - when he set up a business to sell ready made oatcakes he found that demand from abroad was too high, and decided to sell oatcake mix that he could transport to Oatcake lovers all over the world! He found that the need for Oatcakes was so great that all his friends and customers were taking the Stokie delicacy abroad to their expat friends whenever they went to visit. So the Oatcake website was born! ![]() Oatcakes, bacon, cheese and sauce mmmmm! It's the 60 year old recipe Chris Bates uses in the shop - a closely guarded secret as as any Stokie will know, and he's not telling for all the money in the world! Staffordshire people who've grown up with the local pancake style dish, know and love its taste. Chris says the most popular filling sold in his shop is bacon, cheese and brown sauce - or you could try a new one with lemon curd or strawberry jam!?
