All the latest V Festival news

V Festival 2006 promises to be the biggest and best ever! Keep coming back to find out all the lastest news for Staffordshire's biggest music festival!

Another stage has been added to the line up for the 2006 V Festival which takes place this year on the weekend of 19 - 20 August 2006. The Virgin mobile Union stage is to feature up and coming artists from across Britain, who are looking to play to big crowds on a big stage.

The new stage features over twenty bands as well as Indie DJ’s to keep fans entertained between sets. The artists on the bill for the new stage are The Cooper Temple Clause, Sandi Thom, The Dears, Mew, My Morning Jacket, The Concretes, Regina Spektor, BellX1, Jamie T, Crimera, Art Brut, Ocean Size, Captain, The Young Knifes, Liam Frost & The Slowdown Family, Jim Noir, The Upper Room, Lorraine, James Morrison, Paolo Nutini, Butch Walker, Seth Lakeman, The Grate, Director, Milk Teeth, and Love Bites.

Mixing young and old

Paolo Nutini is a nineteen year old Scottish artist with Italian heritage, Paolo takes his influences from all genres of music mainly discovered through family record collections. Through a combination of relatives Paolo favoured folk, soul and rock and roll bringing together his own complex but unique sound.

Fatboy Slim

Jamie T in contrast to Nutini found his music whilst growing up in South West London, hearing a mixture of drum ‘n’ bass and garage whilst still loving the older sounds of The Clash, Tom Waits and The Specials. Jamie ran a club night that went on tour and looks set to take off in a big way.

The Young Knives have shot onto the music scene after performing at V for the first time last year and playing to students up and down the country, and after headlining their own tour they hope to entertain a large crowd at this year’s festival.

Music heavyweights

Music heavyweights Radiohead and Morrissey will both make their V debuts as headliners for the two-day event at Weston Park in Staffordshire and Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex.
