Natalie Bangs
Such a posing drama queen...

Drama Queen

Joe Dundas
Natalie Bangs has been an actress since she was knee high to a grasshopper shes appeared on TV, Radio and on Stage. I went to talk to the Trentham teenager about her love for acting...

As a young girl Natalie grew up always wanting to be an actress. With a long and varied acting career the teenager from Trentham (on the outskirts of Newcastle) is hoping with her experience she’ll be able to get into the prestigious Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.

“I love knowing that people are watching me and seeing me perform, it’s not big headed, I just enjoy making people laugh” she said “I’ve been in lots of things, Twelfth Night, Just and I was on Radio Stoke once before with the radio drama ‘Albert’.”

Natalie hasn’t just performed on stage and radio she’s also been on TV in the ITV children’s drama ‘Girls in Love’ which was aired in 2003.

Natalie joined ‘Janet Howes’ talent agency in 2002. Shortly after she joined Natalie managed to get a small part on ITV's ‘Girls in Love’ and it gave her a taste of the world of television that she just wanted more of.

Natalie, who went to Trentham High obtaining an A* in her Drama, is currently at Fenton College taking performance studies, media studies, theatre studies and general studies.

“Ideally I want to go to either Cumbria Institute of the Arts or Liverpool Institute of Performance Arts because I love performing so much.”

Natalie has spent her life obtaining qualifications for her love of acting. She attended the ‘Darts and Dashes’ young budding actors course at the Regent Theatre in Hanley where at the end of the courses the young thespians put on a showcase.

More recently Natalie saw an advert for a part in Big – The Musical. She went to the audition at Thisley Hough and after all the nail biting she finally got the part she wanted. Natalie deserves all she gets, staying up late at night reading scripts making sure that she knows her scripts word for word many months before she actually goes on stage.

“I guess I work hard for my auditions… I like making people laugh so maybe I just have a big ego”

Dedicated she is, and there isn’t a day goes by that she doesn’t look out for the latest auditions, she checks this very website (BBC Staffordshire) and all the papers just for the chance of an audition.

“I’d say it’s the best way to find auditions, you yourself know what you want to go for, audition wise, and when I see something I like I go for it… hopefully I get it.”

Natalie will be in Big – The Musical from the 29th October to the 5th November at the Stoke Rep Theatre. She will also be starring as Prince Charming in the Cinderella Pantomime at the Mitchell Memorial Theatre in January.
