Hollywood Hills,Ca. @ Sara and all Rob's Fans I did read your post and the one that struck me as the best Idea was some talk shows were Robbie could sing.The Beattles lauched their act in america on the Ed Sullivan Show.I remember that night so well.Some late night talk shows could help greatly but less talk and more of Robbies songs .The talk show is a challenge to artist to try to be cleaver and witty and to be actcepted on those merits ,Robbie has allways fallen into those kind of traps and he does not have to prove him self that way. His most wonderfull gift is his voice and his mind that composes songs with meaning like no other . The words are real and it teaches me new MEANINGS evertime I listen to his music. Ya I'm hooked on Robbies Music and like everyone else cann't wait to see what he will say in his next Album. Its not like Eminema where everyone is waiting to see what shocking thing he will do or say next . Grieving Parents of a 20 year old boy I don't know if this will do any good, but I am desperately trying to find a way to console the grieving parents of a 20 year old boy who was killed in a freak road accident on 16th July. At his funeral, his mother asked the chapel to play 'Angels' at his funeral. i don't ! know! i was not alive back then and have only books to go on ,! even so i know that its a bitter sweet symphony i feel many wrong from corupt corporations, many govenments are so much worse ,the Evil wars that have been in countrys for many years before even bush was born ,many govenments and leaders do not give medicine to its people at all ,or food or water thats my point, in USA many people are so good and really aware and live simple healthy lives and worry too about the enviroment and some amazing sciencetist here in USA ,so what im really trying to say is its not just the fault of the west all the problems of the world as many good things come from the west too , we contine to give aid and food and much of our time to find a way to improve peoples lives ,most times it doesn't get to the people who need it , but in good cases it does like G8 beautiful women ,yet most time in fact it ends up on the black market supporting terrorists ,sorry t be the barer of bad news it can't always be good yet when terrorists grow only poppys for money they are just as bad if not worse than the govenments who sell ,food ,stocks and oil and gas etc...the terrorists say they hate captilism and want some wierdo jihad yet guns and drugs are a huge part of captilism and they have plenty of those and look at huge statues in iraq and gold palaces etc.... i realise you think that govenments hide in luxary yet some leaders are working hard for their people , i feel strong for this . politics is a hard job it takes many years to study and is complex so i feel for some they do good and some its just money greed and power ,yet my point is in the liberal west they slag off Bush yet all those people have western and captilistic things they enjoy they don't praise the govenment which is some great things too for any thing ,i feel the terrorists slag all this off yet secretly they want all that stuff ,for if they believe in the rubbish and lies they spread they would just live peacefully and not bomb others like the buddist, i do understand the History of the Arabs in Spain etc. and I have visited Historical sites where they hid and survived so bravely and also died so they didn't have to be killed by the sword of the enemy , i do respect the good of the cultures some of their culture and i have a lot of understanding and love for the past and the stuff that happened in the crusades , yet now is now and we must all move forward ,or we shall just keep to r! epeat history all the time , So i some where believe that may be the crusades were so bad that they will never forget this time yet what about the future and the generations to come ,some how we need a focus of the truth and the path way through this madness instead to look for people to blame for if we all Blame we are not stopping the true problem s with our scape goat only trying to hide them ,the truth is that in modern times people are working hard to keep peace on planet Earth i feel its just a crazy way to do that yet what do you or People think is a better way ? I suppose that as a North American who has experienced Robbie's numerous attempts at breaking it big over here first-hand, I can offer some pointers. I believe that better exposure and some minor image adjustments are what will hopefully, finally break him through. After all, I myself started thourougly appreciating him after I heard Feel on the radio for the first time in late 2002. The exposure and play he presently gets over here in Canada is pretty good, in the form of radio, and video airplay, frequent airings of specials such as Fashion Rocks, The Robbie Williams Show, and the BRIT awards, as well as the gossip columns in the newspapers.
I just wish that the channels would lighten up a little on their censorship policies, and play raunchier videos like Come Undone. On American TV channels however, he can mainly be seen either on early morning shows, or late-night talk shows when he does! his promotion. I find that a daytime show, such as Oprah, will get him more viewers, and endear him to her loyal fans. A performance on Oprah worked for fellow European act Il Divo, leading them to a #4 debut on the US charts. Additionally, heavy mainstream, rather than indie, radio airplay is a given. Also, Americans seem to love celebrity reality shows, but I seriously doubt that Rob will ever agree to do one. Ozzy Osbourne and Jessica Simpson's record sales grew thanks to their respective MTV reality programs.
As well, I find that certain facets of Robbie's image tend to distort some narrow-minded Americans. For instance, on an episode of Access Hollywood around the time of Escapology's release, Robbie's appearance on the cover of the gays' magazine The Advocate got a fair bit of publicity. Even though we like to think otherwise, homosexuality still remains a sensitive topic, and I find that some folks got the wrong idea from that cover, and chose to discriminate becaus! e of it. Perhaps an additional cover on a more mainstream musi! c magazi ne like Rolling Stone would have made them think otherwise. A cover on a trendy men's magazine like Details, which fellow breakthrough-hugry Brit David Beckham is presently gracing, would help him attract all male fans, straight, gay, or otherwise.
Finally, I think that American media also places a lot of emphasis on Rob's Britishness and the fact that he is very, very, very different from anybody else. Jay Leno, as much as I love him for giving so many celebs a chance, has introduced Robbie using the same, alienating line for the last four years: "My next guest, one of the most popular singers in Great Britain..." I find that this leads to people thinking that Rob is so unusual compared to what they listen to, that they feel that they will never adapt to his music, and that he is destined to only be big in Britain, or outside of America. Maybe a more music-oriented introduction like "My next guest has been receiving rave reviews from the New York Times...", will open up more people to Rob and his music, rather than close them off just because he is British, and already popular there. So there are some suggestetions on helping the man who deserves it so much. sara

I am so happy for those of you who will be seeing Rob as he embarks on his 2006 world tour, especially you Maria do Mar! I find it unfortunate that I live in a country where Rob's album sales peak at platinum, only 300,000 units, nowhere near his astonishing European numbers.
It is also unfortunate that the country I live in has a population of only 30 million people. (So that's a 1 to 100 ratio of people who own Escapology to the rest of Canada-unthinkable for you Europeans and Brits, I'm sure!) Nevertheless, a platinum certification is still commendable, and I feel that Rob (even though I love him to bits) is giving his fans in the Americas a bit of a cold shoulder by not including them on his tour agenda. It is a "world" tour after all!
Tour after tour, his ignorance of us really begins to bite. However, I do understand that he and his record company probably believe that a smaller-scale N! orth American leg is not worth all the time and money when he is already raking in more than enough cash in Europe, Asia, and Australia. As well, Rob's notorious ego is probably hurt when he realizes that he suddenly has to go from performing to a crowd of 50 000 to one of 5000.
Additionally, the record company's top priority is probably not the fans. I wonder, also, whether the fans are Rob's top priority. Something tells me that they are, he after all does belt out "Let Me Entertain You"-to which I say "Anytime sir!" So, if the fans are truly his main drive, he should lobby to add a North American leg, he most definitely has the clout.
I find that us North American fans, though small in number, are just as devoted to Rob as the rest, and that we deserve the same respect; it is not our fault that we live where we live, or that the majority of the record-buying public thinks differently from us. This is just an opinion of mine regarding this, I do not mean to attack or offe! nd anybody in any way. I intend to visit my uncle in Germany o! nly if h e gets me RW tickets...I have to have the Robbie live experience in the only way that it is possible for now-in Robbie heaven Europe! sara

How can he tour Canada or even the US if he is not popular there, mainly, I suspect due to the music industry, the radio stations and the way they work. Perhaps his fans in Canada and the US are not demanding enough or determined enough to highlight his name and music in your part of the world. I am sorry but Robbie did perform in Australia in 2003, he performed in front of 200,000 fans and he went down a storm. Sydney and Melbourne were some of the greatest concerts I have ever had the priviledge to experience. They loved him. He is also mentioned to be going back to Austalia in 2006. So you had better not miss him this time. As his Greatest Hits album was No.1 for 9 weeks in Oz I think you would need to be on your toes with quick booking when the announcements are made. jackie

Also his official site will sell tickets in the Inner Sanctum when it is officially announced, which it has not been yet. You have to be a member though, so it would be best to join as soon as you can and it is free, Tour news is circulating now, it is speculative at the moment but venue's and dates are starting to be mentioned. and to Lauren in Australia. He sold out Sydney Stadium twice and also did Melbourne Telstra Dome in 2003, they loved him. He is listed to tour Australia in 2006, so you had better keep checking out what Robbie is upto in your part of the world. I think tickets will sell quickly. His album was No.1 for 9 weeks. Somebody asked a question about his name and he replied to that question. That is the only time he has ever posted a comment on this site !!! He was intrigued by the whole conversation. Hello everyone! I haven't been here in a while as I just couldn't get myself to write due to the fact that it is summer! However, I am back now, addressing another hot Robbie rumor, his upcoming duet with Mariah Carey to be exact. Frankly I am in favour of this collaboration, as it would give Robbie exposure in the US, and most likely help his career there. He more than deserves his long-overdue American success, I find. On the other hand, I doubt that this duet idea will go through, as EMI, Rob's record company, paid a large sum of money to get rid of Mariah a few years back. Then again, Mariah has climbed back up to the highest levels of her career, so she should most certainly be able to make the diva-tastic demand of wishing to sing with Robbie, and get it fulfilled as well. Finally, if the record company heads make this happen, I just hope it won't be a cheesy Christmas song! sara
