Kelly Morgan: Aiming to reatin her gold medal
The Welsh Badminton Union has announced the team which will represent Wales in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

Hopes are high that Kelly Morgan will retain her gold medal, while Richard Vaughan is also likely to be one of the main contenders in the man's event.

"It was a difficult decision to pick the final team," said national team coach Chris Rees.

"Everything was taken into consideration including fitness levels and past results and we looked at all aspects of every individual's play.

"I am happy with the selection as we have a vast amount of talent in the team at the moment."

Along with Morgan, the women's team includes Felicity Gallup, Joanne Muggeridge, Robyn Ashworth and Kerryann Sheppard.

In the men's team, Vaughan will be joined by Martyn Lewis, Matthew Hughes, Neil Cotrill and Liam Ingram.

Rees added: "In the individual events Kelly and Richard are both in the top 13, Jo and Felicity are in the top 20 in the doubles and Matthew and Martyn are in the top 60.

"We need to keep our world ranking high so that we're in a good seeded position for the Commonwealths."

Morgan, who will be competing in her third Commonwealth Games, said: "I'll be concentrating form now until the Games on training hard and preparing myself for the big event.

"I'll be really happy to come home with a medal but my aim is to go for gold again.

"I've got a good chance of winning and feel happy with my form, but I'll just have to wait and see what happens."
