Britain's leading beach volleyball duo Denise Johns and Lucy Boulton finished 25th at the Swatch FIVB Japan Open. The British pair pushed the Brazilian number four seeds Renata Riberio and Vanilda Leao all the way before going down to a 21-18 19-21 15-12 defeat. And they also took a set off Dutch team Marleen Van Iersel and Sanne Keizer, who finished third in Osaka, before losing 21-15 14-21 15-11. Brazilians Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca won the event. They saw off compatriots and China Open winners Talita Antunes and Maria Antonelli to land their second title of the season, having also come out on top in the opening event, the Brazil Open. The second British pair of Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin failed to come through qualifying and will hope for a better showing at the next event in Korea starting on 26 May.
