Sanath Jayasuriya's said will be playing three Tests, their first full series in England, before taking part in a triangular one-day competition, also involving India.
They have won their last nine Test matches and also have good memories of their last visit to England when they won by 10 wickets, with Muttiah Muralitharan achieving match figures of 16-220.
He has now passed 400 wickets in Test cricket and will be looking to help his side to avenge their 2-1 home defeat by England last year.
They also boast some of the game's most attractive stroke-makers, with Jayasuriya heading an experienced batting line-up that also includes Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara and Hashan Tillekeratne.
