Leinster v Perpignan | Sunday Grandstand | BBC Two | 1445BST |
Leinster coach Matt Williams has identified Manny Edmonds as Perpignan's key player ahead of their Heineken Cup clash on Sunday.
Edmonds was in superb form as Perpignan beat Llanelli 26-19 in the quarter-finals at Stradey Park, scoring 16 points with his boot.
Williams knows all about the Australian fly-half's talent, having coached him at New South Wales from under-21 level to the seniors.
And he says his team will have to stop Edmonds from playing his usual game if they want to win on Sunday.
"Manny is a similar player to David Knox and Mark Ella, obviously two of Australia's greatest players," Williams told RTE.
Perpignan play to within an inch of the wall Leinster coach Matt Williams |
"He is a beautiful player with the ball in his hand, he attacks well, sells dummies and throws long passes. "And his kicking game has improved enormously since I worked with him.
"I remember him missing a few for me in front of the posts, but saying that, he'll probably kick everything on Sunday."
The Australian coach has also told his team to expect a physical game, and he expects them to react in a controlled manner. Llanelli were reduced to 14 men for most of their game against Perpignan after flanker Dafydd Jones was sent off for stamping - something Williams is determined to avoid.
"Perpignan play to within an inch of the wall, and you can see the way Llanelli reacted," he said.
"They can throw you off your game plan, but we have to keep our heads.
"If we are not ready for the physical battle then that will happen to us too."
