While thousands of Tim Henman fans enjoyed his win over Mark Philippoussis on Centre Court, thousands more were watching on Henman Hill's big screen. The atmosphere was electric and one fan, Anne from Luton, said: "The banter between Henman and Australian fans was like you get at a big football match.
"Most people around me seemed convinced that if we cheered loud enough, the message would get through to Tim.
"My first time on the Hill was even more fun than being on Centre Court."
SWISS RADIO MAN
"Please welcome... on Centre Court.... ROGER.... FEDERER!"
Great news for regular diary readers - Swiss Radio Man is alive and well, and greeted the BBC team in familiar fashion on Monday.
A constant companion in recent years, Federer's victory last year has clearly upped our man's standing and he has moved to a different commentary box.
But on a welcome visit he maintained his firm line of the last three years: "Henman is a LOSER. He will LOSE today." As if Urs Meier wasn't bad enough.
WISE WORDS
Karolina Sprem and Magdalena Maleeva needed to use all their powers of concentration during their women's fourth round battle on Court 18.
Their midday encounter was being shown live on the big screen on Henman Hill, just behind the court.
This meant that the wise words of the BBC commentary team were booming across the court within the players' earshot.
If either player needed their advice, they certainly did not show it in an entertaining battle in the welcome sun.
BRIT WATCH
Court Four was the place to be at 1100 BST as Scotland's Andrew Murray began his boy's singles campaign.
Enjoying the early morning sunshine were LTA chief David Felgate alongside Peter Fleming, and a strong turnout from the nation's tennis writers.
Making the most noise were Felgate's opposite numbers from the USTA, backing Murray's opponent Mykyta Kryvonos.
And the shouts of "Go Mykyta" helped the American to an early lead before Murray fought back for a good win.
