With the injury worries surrounding Venus I'm glad, first of all, that we had a women's final to watch.

It was a pretty tight match, going three sets, but it wasn't the usual high quality you see from the Williams sisters.

Sisters demonstrate gap in class

We can't begin to understand the emotions that these two are feeling as they try to be best friends, live together and then beat each other on the tennis court.

It's very tough to have these emotions played out in front of everyone.

I think Venus handled herself tremendously considering her stomach and hip injuries.

After the match, she wanted to play down the injury and give Serena the credit.

And we forget that Serena has been dealing with the injury for the last two days as well.

They're together all the time and she knows everything that's going on, which makes it so different from a final between other players.

We like to see variety and the Williams sisters are so similar we're having trouble being able to root for just one

I think Serena didn't know how hard to play, how hard Venus was going to play, whether Venus was going to finish the match or not.

She really never seemed to get into her groove - it was a very messy match from Serena.

The atmosphere was subdued and I think the crowds still don't know how to react when the sisters play.

You want to be really passionate about someone winning or losing and people haven't been able to differentiate between the two sisters.

I talked to a few people in the stands before the match and they really didn't have a favourite.

And it's not the last time we're going to see these two in a final - it's going to happen many more times because I still think they're the best two players in the world.

But we like to see variety - Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe - and the Williams sisters are so similar we're having trouble being able to root for just one.

They still come as something of a package but this situation is not the Williams sisters' fault.

They're playing Grand Slam winning tennis and they've raised the bar for women's tennis with great serves and powerful groundstrokes.

The others are going to have to get stronger, more consistent and more agile.
