Sebastien Grosjean held his nerve to beat home favourite Tim Henman and reach his first-ever Wimbledon semi-final.
The Frenchman resumed the rain-interrupted game 1-2 behind in the fourth set, but soon imposed himself to win 7-6 3-6 6-3 6-4.
Henman was given his usual passionate backing by a packed Centre Court crowd, but he made too many unforced errors.
Grosjean broke the British number one in the seventh game of the fourth set, and there was no way back for Henman.
Although he saved one match point at 3-5 behind, Henman was unable to break his wily opponent and the Frenchman was left celebrating, just 32 minutes after play had resumed.

"I give Seb a lot of credit because he played better than me," said Henman.
"He served better than me and his return is pretty solid but in most aspects I didn't match up well, and that's pretty disappointing."
Grosjean told BBC television he was happy with his display.
"I played pretty good against Tim - I wasn't in good shape after losing the second set, but the rain helped me a lot and I came back much better," he said.
"It was easier for me (overnight) because I was 2-1 up in sets, but it's never easy to come back the day after especially against Tim here in Wimbledon.

"But I started pretty well and he missed a few shots and that helped me to finish the match.
"It was a strange first set. I was 5-1 up and I served twice and almost lost the first set and after Tim came back it was difficult.
"I knew when I was on the court that the people are behind him, but I tried to focus on my serve and my game and that's it.
"I'm pretty happy today. My first tournament win was in Nottingham on grass so I've played good on that surface."
