All the action from the first-round match as defending champion Lleyton Hewitt is sensationally beaten by Croat qualifier Ivo Karlovic on Centre Court.

If Karlovic is feeling nervous, he is not showing it, coming up with a rock-solid volley on the first point. Hewitt tries to lob on the second - not a good idea against a 6ft 10" opponent. A push down the line gives the Croat three match points in his first ever Grand Slam match. One is enough to cause one of the biggest upsets in Wimbledon history.

Three good serves from Karlovic earn him three set points. He needs just one - clinching the third set in style with an ace.

Again the number one seed struggles, splaying a forehand wide to give Karlovic set point but the Croat hits long and Hewitt comes up with an ace to hold.

Second set

Karlovic earns the first mini-break as Hewitt finds the tramlines with a forehand. Hewitt retrieves the mini-break with a fabulous forehand return winner that he manages to pick up unbelievabley early. Karlovic bangs down the fastest serve of the match so far (133mph) and holds his next serve to earn a set point - which he converts with a forehand winner.

Karlovic keeps his nerve and forces a tiebreak.

At 15-15 all, a public announcement over the loud speaker blares out during a rally and Hewitt is annoyed that the umpire refuses to replay the point. It turns out to be irrelevant as Hewitt wins the next three points to hold serve.

A whipped forehand down the line gives Hewitt a set point but Karlovic saves it and wins the game. The Croat qualifier, playing in his first ever Grand Slam match, is proving a much tougher opponent in the second set.
