Your privacy matters to us
Desktop McEnroe works as a content update system where you, the user, influence the content that you receive according to a profile set up by you on your receiver.
Any personal information you provide via your receiver is stored on YOUR computer. BBC does NOT transfer any information about identifiable users to its own or other people's servers. You are able to modify this personal information at any time via the BBC home channel.
Receiving Broadcasts
The BBC and its agents will transmit messages to the receiver through content update systems ('channels'). You will have the ability to turn on or off any of these channels. This ability to turn a channel on or off is always available, so you can change your mind at any time.
BBC will transmit messages in relation to the BBC service on the BBC home channel. This channel cannot be turned off except by turning off the whole receiver as installed on your PC and ceasing to use this service, but you will have the ability to opt in or out of certain types of messages at any time.
What information we need to collect
The BBC and its agents shall collect and store a record of all content updates made and responses received from users as part of the operation of this system. These records do not include any data that identifies you the user. It is aggregate data without any form of personal identifier. The BBC shall not record the IP address of your computer or use cookies or any similar technology to collect additional information.
How we store information
Information relating to content updates is stored centrally at a physically and electronically secure data centre. Direct access to this database is restricted to authorized BBC staff and its agents.
Modifications
BBC will notify you through the BBC home channel of any substantial changes to this policy but you will be deemed to have accepted any modifications by using the channel after the modifications have become effective and you have been notified. If you object to any modification, you may cease to use the system.
