Top seed Justine Henin-Hardenne beat Lindsay Davenport to reach the Australian Open semi-finals. The Belgian overcame a poor start that saw her lose the opening four games, coming through 7-5 6-3.
She next faces unseeded Fabiola Zuluaga, after the Colombian had a walkover when Amelie Maursemo withdrew with an injury.
It is the second successive year that Henin-Hardenne has reached the last four.
"That wasn't easy," said the world number one. "Lindsay was playing unbelievable at the start, I wasn't ready for that.
"I played every point as best I could. I came back in the set and that give me confidence.
"I hit a lot of winners today, there was no easy points to her."
