| Graf set for Paris return ![]() Agassi is hot favourite to win the Australian Open Steffi Graf has promised to team up with husband Andre Agassi in the French Open mixed doubles if he wins his fourth Australian Open crown. Graf, 33, retired from tennis in August 1999 and has not played competitively since. But she might soon have to dust her racquets off again, because Agassi has looked in imperious form in surging through to the semi-finals in Melbourne. "For the record, if I win here, Stef has to play doubles with me in Paris," Agassi said after beating Sebastien Grosjean in straight sets in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Graf won 22 Grand Slam singles titles during her illustrious career and reached the semi-finals of the 1999 Wimbledon mixed doubles with John McEnroe. If Graf and Agassi do play together in Paris, they would bring a combined 30 Grand Slam singles titles to the court. However, the pairing could run into difficulties as Agassi admits he finds it hard to concentrate when he plays against his wife at home. "She usually beats me. I have trouble keeping my eye on the ball," he joked after his match with Grosjean. Graf and Agassi married in October 2001, the same month she gave birth to their son Jaden Gil. Agassi, seeded number two in the world, won the Australian Open in 1995, 2000 and 2001. |
