Andre Agassi continued his quest for a fourth Australian Open title by reaching the semi-finals with a straight-sets demolition of Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean.

Agassi, the second seed, beat the 12th seed 6-3 6-2 6-2 to set up a last-four clash with unseeded Wayne Ferreira, who beat Juan Carlos Ferrero in the second semi.

And Agassi was especially pleased to make it through another potentially tricky encounter with ease.

"Getting through it is the first priority, but getting through it with fuel in your tank would be the second," he said.

"Where I feel it's been a good tournament for me up to now is that when I have got out there, I haven't spent any unnecessary energy,"

The American was in sparkling form throughout, punishing Grosjean with his relentlessly accurate groundstrokes.

He won 78% of his first serve points and only committed 14 unforced errors in 25 games.

Agassi broke first to lead 3-2 in the first set and again to love in the ninth game to win the set in just 41 minutes.

The dominance continued in the second set as the 32-year-old won four games in a row to take it 6-2.

And although Grosjean battled hard there was nothing he could do in the face of Agassi on top form.

In the third set, Agassi again rattled off four consecutive games from 2-2 to secure a place in the semi-finals.

"I just felt very solid on my groundstrokes, serving well, hitting forehands and backhands well," said Agassi. "

"There was a lot out there I have got to be happy about."

And Grosjean admitted it would be difficult for anyone to stop the three-time champion from claiming another title.

"I think Agassi can win in each tournament he plays," he said. "He's ready, he's hitting the ball very hard and doesn't spend long on the court.

"I don't know who will be playing Andre in the semi-final but it's going to be a tough match for him."
