It's day three of the Australian Open and first up on the Rod Laver Arena is 2004 women's champion Justine Henin, who is taking on British number one Elena Baltacha for the first time in the second round
The world number 55 is completely blown away in the first set as Henin's fluent backhand dominates proceedings, wrapping up the set in just 27 minutes
Although Baltacha significantly improves in the second set, she cannot prevent the former world number one from breaking her serve in the eighth game - and the 11th seed seals victory in 61 minutes
Three-time Australian Open finalist Henin will play 23rd seed Svetlana Kuznetsova in the third round after the Russian beat Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands 6-1 6-4 on Court Two
Over on the Hisense Arena, ninth seed and 2009 semi-finalist Fernando Verdasco makes a terrible start against Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic, losing the first set 6-2 after 33 minutes
Serbian Tipsarevic, ranked 49th in the world, maintains his excellent form into the second set as he takes a 2-0 lead with a 6-4 display
But despite facing the wrong end of three match points during the third set, Verdasco manages to reduce the arrears to one set before levelling a tense match in the fourth following a tie-break
And the Spaniard completes an astonishing comeback as he wins the fifth and final set 6-0 in to claim his third-round match-up with Japan's Kei Nishikori
Meanwhile, eighth seed Andy Roddick is confronted with a tough first-set tie-break by Russia's Igor Kunitsyn, ranked 99th in the world, but the American eventually pulls through 9-7 to take a 1-0 match lead
The four-time finalist goes through the motions in the next two sets to wrap up victory, setting up an almighty scramble as fans grab anything at hand for his much-coveted autograph as Roddick walks off court
Fourth seed Venus Williams unleashes one of her most outlandish outfits yet during her second-round match against Sandra Zahlavova of the Czech Republic
England cricketer Graeme Swann reckons Venus looks like a "cheese and onion slice" in her outfit while Andy Murray's mother Judy says on Twitter the former world number one "knows her fashion" - you decide...
Sixth seed Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic has a loyal band of vociferous followers on Margaret Court Arena for his second-round match against Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber
Despite losing the first set, Berdych delights his fans as his game clicks into gear in the second set before winning the match to set up an intriguing third-round match with Frenchman Richard Gasquet
The sound of silence is certainly not in evidence on the Hisense Arena court as Maria Sharapova makes plenty of noise during her match against France's Virginie Razzano
After treating the crowd and her opponent to a feast of screams and shrieks, the Russian 14th seed, who is a former Australian Open champion, eventually wraps up a 7-6 6-3 win
French Open champion and sixth seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy looks in need of a rest after her opponent Rebecca Marino of Canada stages a second-set comeback but Schiavone digs deep in the decider before eventually winning 6-3 5-7 9-7
British number two Anne Keothavong plays a shot during her second-round match against German 30th seed Andrea Petkovic
After losing the opening set, Petkovic recovers to take the second and then sweeps through the decider to set up a meeting with Venus Williams
Third seed Novak Djokovic has to work hard in the opening two sets of his match against Croatia's Ivan Dodig before eventually wrapping up a 7-5 6-7 (10-8) 6-0 6-2 win in two hours and 21 minutes
On the Rod Laver Arena court Roger Federer's adoring fans are out in force as their man faces tricky Frenchman Gilles Simon in the second round
Federer, seeking a fifth Australian Open title, starts in sublime form as he sweeps Simon aside in the first two set and seems set for an easy victory
But Simon, the former world number six who is battling back after injury problems, responds with some superb groundstrokes of his own and dismantles Federer's serve to level the match at two sets all
Federer, who has never beaten Simon in two previous meetings, has to steady himself before prevailing in a tense fifth set, setting up a third-round clash with Belgium's Xavier Malisse
