Robson is the sixth-highest Briton in the world rankings

Britain's Laura Robson retired from her second-round match at the Japan Open when suffering dehydration due to heat.

The 16-year-old trailed Frenchwoman Severine Beltrame 6-3 0-1 at the ITF event in Tokyo when she pulled out.

Robson, ranked 212, had beaten American sixth seed and world number 108 Christina McHale in round one to close in on a place in the world's top 200.

She came through qualifying to reach the main draw at last month's WTA Pan Pacific Open, also in Tokyo.
