It's day 12 of the US Open at a chilly Flushing Meadows. The season's final Grand Slam may be drawing to a close, but this is where it gets exciting. Friday is all about the men's doubles final and women's singles semis
There's also some British interest and Peter Norfolk wins his second of three round-robin matches to set up a meeting with David Wagner in Sunday's final
India's Rohan Bopanna (left) and Pakistan's Aisam Ul-Haq Qureshi, trying to inspire peace between their homelands, face American twin brother duo Mike and Bob Bryan in the men's doubles final
But underdogs Bopanna and Qureshi are beaten 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-4) by the top-ranked Bryan brothers, who can't contain their joy at winning their third US Open crown and ninth Grand Slam title
Afterwards, Pakistan's Qureshi (centre) speaks of the need for greater understanding between his country and America:"We are a peace-loving country and we want peace as much as you all."
After their triumph, the Bryans are honoured by Pakistani's UN Ambassador Abdullah H. Haroon and India's UN Ambassador Hardeep Singh Puri
Actor Bradley Cooper, of The Hangover fame, is among the crowd on women's semi-final day
Danish top seed Caroline Wozniacki has high hopes of reaching her second successive US Open final as she takes on Russian Vera Zvonareva in the first of the women's semi-finals
But 20-year-old Wozniacki struggles for any sort of momentum against Zvonareva, a doubles champion at Flushing Meadows in 2006, and loses the first set 6-4
Zvonareva comfortably closes out the match by taking the second set 6-3 to reach her second Grand Slam final following her losing appearance in this summer's Wimbledon decider
Injured world number one Serena Williams is among the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd to support sister Venus as she takes on defending champion Kim Clijsters in the day's second semi-final
Other familiar faces include Kelsey Grammer and Sir Cliff Richard
Two-time champion Venus is playing her first tournament since Wimbledon but has not dropped a set all tournament and produces a near-faultless display to pick up the opener against Clijsters
But former world number one Clijsters, who has won her last four matches against Venus, shows immense composure, power and athleticism to take the second set on a tie-break and force a decider
Breaks of serve are exchanged in the final set before Clijsters gets in front at 4-4 and then holds her nerve to serve out the match and reach her third successive US Open final
