Liam Broady and Tom Farquharson beat Lewis Burton and George Morgan 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 in the all-British boys' doubles final on Court One.

Broady was broken in the opening game of a tight first set but Burton was broken back in the sixth game and it was finally decided in a tie-break.

Burton was broken again in the third game of the second set and that proved enough for Broady and Farquharson.

They triumphed on their first match point in front of a decent-sized crowd.

"I don't think either of us know how to explain what it feels like to win this," said Farquharson. "Playing on Court One with all that support was unbelievable and it was really important to have all those people there to support you and back you.

"Neither of us expected the court to be so big. When I saw games there when I was younger it seemed massive but when you actually step out there and hear the noise greeting you....it made us both pretty nervous in those first few games."

Londoner Farquharson will be unable to defend his title as it is his last year on the juniors circuit but he hopes to return to Wimbledon, adding: "I would love to come back and play men's here. I am going to start playing on the men's circuit and I want to keep improving."

Broady is from Stockport, hometown of Britain's last Wimbledon men's singles champion Fred Perry, and said there could easily have been more British junior success at SW19 this year.

"We were a few rounds away from having a winner in the boys' and girls' singles but sometimes it doesn't work out right. On a different day Ollie (Oliver Golding) would have won his semi-final match but that's just how it worked out."

The pair are unsure whether they are going to continue as a doubles team. They have only been together for three months and competed in three-and-a-half tournaments.

Broady said: "We are both going to try to focus on our singles games but then we will see where we are."

Farquharson saved an early break point in the opening game with a smash by the net and although Broady had an advantage he lost it and then served a double fault to give his opponents the early initiative.

Burton served the first ace of the match to make it 15-15 in the second game and held to consolidate the break.

Broady and Farquharson had three breakback points in Burton's next service game and took the second to level the set at 3-3 and Morgan saved two break points in his next service game with two big serves.

In the tie-break, Burton and Morgan saved one match point but could not stop the next one and lost the first set in 56 minutes.

Once Broady and Farquharson had picked up their early break in the second set, Burton and Morgan were chasing the match.

They did have two break points on Broady's serve in the sixth game but he saved them both - the second with a 93mph ace.

Broady and Farquharson are the first British winners of the title since James Trotman and Martin Lee in 1995.
