Top seed Federer is targetting his sixth title in Halle |
World number two Roger Federer extended his unbeaten record in Halle to 27 matches with a crushing 6-1 6-2 win over Colombia's Alejandro Falla. Federer, 28, broke serve four times in the match as he reached the quarter-finals in less than an hour. The Swiss star has won the Halle tournament on his last five visits. The top seed will face either compatriot Marco Chiudinelli or Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in Friday's quarter-finals. There was an upset earlier in the day as Germany's Mischa Zverev gave the home crowd something to cheer with a battling 3-6 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-3) win over sixth seed Jurgen Melzer. But former Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt came through a potentially difficult match against promising Dutchman Thiemo de Bakker with ease, winning 6-3 6-3.
